Been looking for a lightweight X11 program to keep track of contact addresses, like an rolodex, for Heather. It needs to be able to export data in a format I can easily parse so I can print labels (like with labelnation). I haven't found a solution yet, but here is some research:- glabels http://glabels.sourceforge.net/ useful for designing labels but doesn't keep database of contacts
- old Tcl/Tk-based Addressbook on Sunsite mirrors http://ftp.metalab.unc.edu/pub/historic-linux/ftp-archives/sunsite.unc.edu/Sep-29-1996/X11/xapps/rolodex/addressbook-0.6.lsm
- xrolodex from x.org contrib mirrors
- bbdb (for emacs)
- yrolo http://www.muquit.com/muquit/software/yrolo/yrolo.html
- openoffice -- maybe has some template for data entry?
- evolution
- claws-mail -- it supports vCard. I emailed them and learned that support for attributes beyond email were recently committed. My wife uses claws-mail so I may update to this.
- gpilot -- I was told this had it. I installed it and it looks useful.
- OpenSync plugin for claws-mail -- not done yet.
I worked a while merging my old NetBSD journals and other open source/Unix journals. I split the huge files up into individual files-per-day, wrote scripts to generate webpages and newsfeeds. I am using it now. I had near 900 days covering probably a couple thousand different things. Hopefully this is more manageable.
