Ran KDE startup wizard in an vnc viewer: I chose KDE theme. It changed my kword background and foreground. And it changed my background and foreground for rxvt. This is even after vnc was closed. I fixed the kword, but running kcontrol and making some changes.

The timestamps on my app-defaults files had not changed.

"xrdb -query" showed all types of X resource settings. I did a "xrdb -remove" and all were removed -- and rxvt was back to normal (not the current running ones though).

I also did "xrdb /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/app-defaults/*" to set it.
