On an old Debian system, the apt-get upgrade blanked the DocumentRoot entry in /etc/apache/srm.conf, so Apache couldn't be restarted until I manually fixed.

Saw in logs on a Linux box:

kernel: Suspect short first fragment.

This is from linux source net/ipv4/ip_fw.c. Could be a port scan or someone maliciously trying to exploit potential vulnerability in the Linux ipchains firewall implementation.
