send-pr bin/15997: The grouping example
{ echo -n " hello " ; echo " world" } > greeting
doesn't seem to work from prompt or in sh script. The shell doesn't see the closing brace.
Syntax error: end of file unexpected (expecting "}")
This issue is with 1.4.2 and 1.5.3_ALPHA.

A little later, G. Woods showed docs that said the group command within braces needs to end with a semicolon. It worked. (This PR was closed by gmcgarry on 01/May/2003; the man page now has a semicolon.)

Want to build x11/gnome-libs (has problems a few times last week). I want (need) the GIMP (again)! So I did a cvs update again (77 minutes). So did a make clean under x11/gnome-libs and then "time make 2>&1 | tee LOG3". Same error as before. I had emailed the tech-pkg about this last Friday. Now I send-pr'd it: pkg/15999. Frustrating because I've been without xv and gimp for awhile. (PR closed on 27/Mar/2002: now documented better in Packages.txt -- don't mix package and non-package files.)

Nevermind xv -- it got uninstalled, but now installing again. And less than three minutes later it is built from source and installed :)

I see that ftp://smaug.fh-regensburg.de/pub/NetBSD/packages/i386/All has many binary packages for NetBSD 1.5.3_ALPHA/i386. The bulk builds (I believe) are done daily. Details on broken packages at ftp://smaug.fh-regensburg.de/pub/NetBSD/pkgstat/last/broken.html.
