rsync has some security problem in the rsync daemon (which may be exploited and possible can then exploit an rsync client to run commands). So on my debian server I did "apt-get update" (using security.debian.org sources) and then "apt-get upgrade". This updated a lot: groff, gzip, libc6, libc6-dev, locales, telnet, apache-doc, modconf, exim (3.12-10.2), and rsync. This took less than five minutes.
