Built custom kernel for old Compaq Presario 2285V system. I patched it for new time fixes -- see journal entry 05/Jul/2005. I will see if this fixes ping and pine.

Custom kernel saved 4048 kB of memory at initial kernel bootup. The actual kernel size is 4070 kB smaller.

The patch seems to help. Now with new kernel, ping works correctly and pine appears to work good too. named was also complaining about: slave zone "........net" time warp -- I think that is now fixed also since it now says slave zone loaded. I need to request a pullup for netbsd-2.
