Related to my PR #18578, I see that pax also has same issue. I send-pr'd it: security/18663 "pax also allows ".." (can overwrite arbitrary files)". (I noticed that lots of changes have been added and merged in from OpenBSD's pax; I didn't check if this was fixed in -current.)
