From ports installed smpeg and SDL (with uses GNU pth). I couldn't play any .mpg or .mpeg videos; it would just hang -- CTRL-C and kill (TERM) didn't quit. Tried to play an audio, but it just buzzed and played fast with an error saying format wasn't supported (even though the manual said it was); splay played it perfectly. I sent an email to smpeg; said this was a known problem due to that SDL doesn't work. I compiled the SDL tests and as far as I can tell they work. Also sent an email to SDL list -- waiting for response. * I need to send-pr this problem.

Killed and disabled xntpd (in /etc/rc.conf) for internet.com 1.4.2 server. Added entry in crontab to run ntpdate three times a day. Also set rc.conf to run ntpdate at boot. ntpd has a buffer overflow which is fixed, but I don't want to rebuild everything from source right now. I guess it may be an easy build, but I don't want to have to be forced to start rebuilding every little part of an old 1.4.2 tree. The /usr/src/ tree only has config and kernel code. (The computer is colocated at qwest in New Jersey.) It seems like NetBSD should provide binary fixes. * My own commercial BSD will :)
