"make UPDATE=1 build" finished (only took one or two hours).Learned more about ktrace: "ktrace -id sshd -d -p2200". Then I saw that my .bashrc was doing "interactive" stuff for setting up my xterm! I deleted my .bashrc (because this stuff was also in my .profile). (ktrace is cool!)
The cvs update also updated my kernel sources. I copied my JCR-1.5-20010108 configuration to create a new one. I already installed a (maybe) new config (during the "make build" above). I also checked CHANGES-1.5.1 to see if sys/arch/i386/conf/GENERIC (or other kernel configs) had changed. w, ps, top all worked, but I decided to build a new kernel anyways. I saved old to /netbsd-1.5.1_ALPHA-JCR-1.5-20010108 and replace /netbsd. (Will test Monday morning!)
