The BSD/OS-binary of netscape hung again when I clicked "shift-insert" to paste. So I tried the Linux-based netscape and it worked! But then I saw it was communicator -- mail client, web editor -- the whole bloated package. Send-pr (pkg/12115): DESCRiptions for navigator and communicator are lacking. (And my suggestions were committed on 2/Feb/2001.)So I installed navigator from source. It regrabbed a bunch of suse-linux stuff. I had one error, I think because I had made a symlink in the past:
rainier:/usr/pkgsrc/www/navigator$ locate emul/linux/usr/lib/libstdc++-libc6.1-1.so.2 | xargs ls -l lrwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 30 Nov 2 07:34 /usr/pkg/emul/linux/usr/lib/libstdc++-libc6.1-1.so.2 -> libstdc++-2-libc6.1-1-2.9.0.soSo I removed it.
This is Navigator 4.7 (BSD/OS), Communicator 4.76 and Navigator 4.76 (Linux). (Following sizes in kilobytes.)
6784 /usr/local/netscape/netscape 13448 /usr/pkg/lib/netscape/communicator-4.76/netscape 7520 /usr/pkg/lib/netscape/navigator-4.76/netscape"ps ax -o %mem,vsz,rss,command":
%MEM VSZ RSS COMMAND 14.6 22836 19052 /usr/pkg/lib/netscape/communicator-4.76/netscape /home/reed/ly 6.4 11284 8296 /usr/local/netscape/netscape /home/reed/lynx_bookmarks.html 8.5 12176 11112 /usr/pkg/lib/netscape/navigator-4.76/netscapeI also found that sometimes linux communicator and navigator would not end! The window would close, but my drive would thrash and I had to kill with SIGKILL. Now I'll try linux navigator more. I do see that shift-insert doesn't work (but no hang). And I'll be able to use the Macromedia Flash plugins.
I received a message from the xforms mailing list; it mentioned a second ELF NetBSD binary package. So I checked and I did have this ELF version. Still researching.
Second grammar fix for time.1 still not appended to bug webpage or in netbsd-bugs archive. I guess I am doing something wrong. I emailed netbsd-bugs to find out how to reply. Found out why -- I need to send to gnats-bugs (not gnats-admin) and if I want the mailing list then send to it also. So I sent the grammar fix to gnats-bugs (with the PR number) and it was appended to the web page. (Now I am not sure if anyone will ever know.)
